§ 181-1. New construction.

  • A. 
    Outdoor aboveground fuel storage tanks and direct burial of single-wall in-ground fuel storage tanks are prohibited for all residential properties and, except as provided in Subsection B hereof, are prohibited for all commercial, industrial and municipal development.
    (1) 
    Direct burial of double-wall tanks and burial of a tank in a watertight concrete vault will be permitted where plans and specifications are submitted to and approved by the Building Department/Fire Marshal.
    (2) 
    Aboveground fuel storage tank placement in a suitable watertight and weathertight enclosure may be permitted where plans and specifications are submitted to and approved by the Building Department/Fire Marshal.
    B. 
    Direct burial of in-ground fuel storage tanks will be permitted for commercial, industrial and municipal uses where storage tank installations are designed and constructed in compliance with Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection standards.
